Little bit of the background

Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) accepts all buying and selling orders form trading member firms and members (Broker firms) which comes though their trading platforms. These platforms are provided by domain experts such as DirectFN with their product call DirectFN, IronOne Technologies with their product call ATrad or in-house developed product call JB Securities Internet Trading by JB Securities (Pvt) Ltd.  These orders are processed by Order Management System which is in the CSE from the Millennium IT OMS which is provided by Millennium Information Technologies.

Broker firms of CSE provides Online Trading facility to theirs clients where clients could login to the online trading account and trade in the CSE on behalf of them. The facility can be varies from web based application, Desktop applications to mobile applications.

Millennium Information Technologies

Currently, Millennium Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd (MIT) is fully owned by Lanka Century Investments PLC (LCI) and prior to that it was owned by London Stock Exchange Group since 2009.MIT is a Sri Lankan based company which dominates in the domain of electronic trading systems, system integration services including IT infrastructure and consultancy services. The headquarters based on Colombo Sri Lanka and has a Revenue of GBP 80.6 Million (2015)

MIT has provided Order Management System (OMS) for the Stock Exchanges as well as front end Automated Trading System (ATS) for the broker firms.

Today CSE using MIT OMS for many years and broker firms are using ATS 7. However, ATS is using by only few key roles in each broker firms whereas before 2013, all the Investment Advisers who attached to all the broker firms have used ATS to deal with the CSE OMS. It is a domain across accepted fact without any debate that none of applications have ever taken the place of ATS yet. However, currently almost all the Investment Advisers who attached to Brokers firms are using Trading plat forms provided by other vendors such as DirectFN and IronOne  or in-house developed platform such as JB Securities Trading platform.
